10 Tips to safer computing in 2007
- Back up your data
- Regularly update your operating system with the security patches
- Regularly update your anti-virus software
- Install annd run anti-adware/spyware software like
Ad-Aware
and
Spybot
- Install anti-spam software and keep it updated/li>
- Don't publish your main email address in a public location or use it to fill out a form. Use a disposable
email address like at Yahoo
- Be careful when opening or responding to e-mails. Microsoft does not send updates via e-mail.
- Lots of e-mails appear to be from your ISP regarding your e-mail account - DO NOT OPEN THEM. Instead,
know when your account expires or if there is a question, contact your ISP directly.
- No legitimate company asks for credit card information via e-mail.
- Back up your data ;-)
